Dancer in the Dark

Written and directed by Lars von Trier, this musical drama is set in the rural America in 1964, depicting the lives of Selma, an European immigrant and her child. Selma is going blind and is saving her money for an operation to prevent her son from the same disease. She chooses to take refuge from her hardships by imagining herself and her co-workers in Hollywood musicals.
